Discover Adelboden
Adelboden is two places at once.
Many people know Adelboden only from television – the World Cup giant slalom on the Chuenisbärgli every January. Come in summer and you find a different village: quiet, green, and one of the finest hiking areas in the Bernese Oberland.
Chalet Legi sits at the foot of the Tschentenalp, Adelboden's local mountain. That makes it your nearest destination – in winter and in summer.
Winter
The Adelboden-Lenk ski area covers 86 kilometres of pistes served by 22 lifts, between 1,260 and 2,200 metres. The mix is family-friendly: 46 km blue, 34 km red, 6 km black.
The Chuenisbärgli hosts the World Cup giant slalom each January. If you are coming that week, book early – the whole valley fills up.
The sledging park on the Tschentenalp
Right above the village, and your closest attraction: several runs lead down from the Tschentenalp, and you can swap your vehicle after every descent – classic Davos sledge, airboard, balancer, ski-bock – at no extra charge. On selected evenings there is night sledging.
There are also winter walking trails and snowshoe routes. The Engstligenalp at around 2,000 metres is a high plateau of a kind rarely found in the Alps: wide, flat, and in winter a paradise for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Summer
The Giant Swing on the Tschentenalp
At around 1,950 metres, just two minutes' walk from the mountain station, a giant swing hangs out over the slope – facing the Lohner massif. It is free to use whenever the cable car runs. For most guests, this is the moment that ends up on their phone.
Around the mountain station there is also a playground, panoramic trails and the mountain restaurant. Because the chalet sits at the foot of the Tschentenalp, you are up there in minutes.
Hiking
300 kilometres of marked hiking trails lead away from Adelboden, from level family walks to summit routes.
The Engstligen Falls are among the most water-rich waterfalls in Switzerland, dropping more than 600 metres. The path alongside them up to the Engstligenalp is one of the most striking ascents in the region.
The Cholerenschlucht is a hundred-metre gorge with waterfalls, water-smoothed rock and old mills, accessible by stairs. Cyclists will find a well-developed network of bike routes at every level of difficulty.

Day trips in the region

Thun Castle. Around 45 minutes down the valley, overlooking Lake Thun – the classic rainy-day outing.
Jungfraujoch. The «Top of Europe» is a full day trip from Adelboden via Interlaken. Set off early and check the weather first.
If you are not sure what is worth it, ask us. We will tell you honestly which trips repay the effort.
When it rains
The indoor pool, the museum, the village restaurants – and the living room at Chalet Legi, with the long table and a deck of cards. The TV has over 300 channels.
